Assistant Store Manager
Location: Dumfries, DG1 1NA Salary: Competitive (depending on experience) Hours: Full-time (40 hrs per week), Monday–Friday 7am–5pm, and alternate Saturday shifts (8am–12pm) with time off in lieu.
About the Role
As an Assistant Store Manager at Dulux Decorating Centres, you will:
- Support the Store Manager in driving sales and market growth.
- Build strong customer relationships and develop a high-performing sales team.
- Cover for the Store Manager during absences.

Job Purpose
As an integral part of the Dulux Decorator Centre (DDC) management team, your key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Store Manager to achieve increased sales and market share.
- Building partnerships with customers and developing a high-performing team.
- Covering for the Store Manager when necessary.
This is a full-time, flexible role tailored to help you thrive while balancing work and life.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting sales and culture goals by implementing action plans aligned with the national engagement strategy.
- Mentoring and developing a performing sales team to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Ensuring store operational excellence, adhering to the DDC Operational Excellence Guide.
- Collaborating on financial performance, focusing on sales growth, margin optimization, cost efficiency, and loss prevention.
- Maintaining strong customer relationships and analysing performance trends.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business success.
Job Requirements
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in supervising a store, including reviewing team performance and business metrics.
- An understanding of the importance of inspiring and nurturing colleagues.
- Proficiency with commercial business systems.
- Strong commercial acumen.
