The Role – Assistant Store Manager

As an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll be a passionate, driven leader who plays a pivotal role in crafting an exceptional shopping experience for customers. Collaborating with the Store Manager, you’ll develop team members, drive store performance, and nurture a positive, high-performing culture.

Beyond Retro is committed to sustainable fashion—an alternative to fast fashion. In this role, you’ll contribute meaningfully to both your store and the broader business.

Additionally, this unique position includes leadership responsibility for supporting visual merchandising standards across UK stores. Partnering with the Area Manager, you’ll:

  • Implement visual merchandising strategies
  • Share best practices
  • Ensure stores align with Beyond Retro’s distinctive brand experience

Responsibilities

Customer & Team Leadership

  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience through outstanding service and a welcoming shopping environment.
  • Support, coach, and develop team members to help them reach their full potential.

Store Operations & Performance

  • Motivate the team to hit sales, service, and operational targets.
  • Assist in managing daily store operations while maintaining high standards.
  • Deputise for the Store Manager when needed (e.g., lead the store during their absence).

Visual Merchandising & Brand Standards

  • Partner with the Area Manager to implement visual merchandising strategies.
  • Maintain Beyond Retro’s distinctive visual standards across UK stores.
  • Share best practices and support other stores in creating commercially successful, inspiring displays.

Culture & Sustainability

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for team members and customers.
  • Lead by example, promoting a collaborative, energetic culture.
  • Identify operational improvements that align with sustainability goals.
  • Champion Beyond Retro’s values by promoting sustainable fashion.

Compliance & Flow

  • Maintain inventory accuracy and support loss prevention initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years of retail experience, ideally in a supervisory or Assistant Store Manager role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities—fashion, vintage, or lifestyle retail experience is a plus.
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • A positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Commitment to sustainability and alignment with Beyond Retro’s brand values.
