Assistant Store Manager - New Store Opening
Assistant Manager – Evans Cycles
As an Assistant Manager at Evans Cycles, you’ll support the Store Manager in running the store day-to-day – leading the team, driving sales, and delivering the best possible experience for every customer. You’ll combine strong retail management skills with a genuine passion for cycling, inspiring your team to achieve great results while ensuring the store runs smoothly and efficiently.
Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for the daily operations of the store and team success through:
- Supporting the Store Manager in leading and motivating the team to deliver excellent service and achieve sales targets
- Setting high standards for customer experience and ensuring they are consistently met
- Driving sales through:
- Coaching the team on product knowledge, selling techniques, and service excellence
- Overseeing merchandising standards to keep the store well-presented and commercially strong
- Assisting with staff training and development, helping the team grow their skills and knowledge
- Supporting inventory management, including:
- Checking stock levels
- Restocking efficiently
- Ensuring accuracy in stock records
- Overseeing cash handling procedures and store operations, including:
- Opening and closing duties
- Promoting a safe, compliant, and well-organised store environment
- Gathering customer feedback and sharing ideas to improve store performance
- Carrying out administrative tasks, such as:
- Scheduling
- Payroll
- Reporting

Qualifications & About You
We’re looking for a proactive and customer-focused professional with:
- Previous retail management or supervisory experience (cycling or sporting goods experience is a bonus)
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Passionate about customer service with excellent communication skills
- A sales-driven mindset, with experience in meeting and exceeding sales targets
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for cycling products (highly desirable)
- An organised, adaptable attitude, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Computer-literate, with confidence in administrative tasks
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and varied shifts in line with store hours
