Assistant Store Manager
# Assistant Manager – Cardiff
As an Assistant Manager at Lucy & Yak, you’ll play a crucial role in driving store success while collaborating with the Store Manager to deliver an exceptional shopping experience rooted in our brand values. This position demands expertise in customer service, shop standards, and team leadership—helping your team excel from daily ops to hitting key performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Customer-Centric Approach
- Become an expert on everything Lucy & Yak: products, sizing, sustainability, and brand ethics.
- Foster a customer-focused culture, ensuring every interaction exceeds expectations and leaves a memorable impression.
- Deliver a shopping experience that delights customers while reflecting the Lucy & Yak ethos.
Team Development, Coaching & Training
- Lead by example, creating a positive and dynamic work environment.
- Motivate and inspire team members to achieve their best—both individually and collectively.
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback to fuel performance growth.
- Work with the Store Manager to recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team that embodies the brand.
Sales & Growth
- Partner with the Store Manager to meet sales targets and enhance customer experience.
- Drive strategies for sales growth, ensuring the team continually elevates performance.

Operational Support
- Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Support and participate in evening events and collaborations to keep the store lively.
- Manage staff rotas, including leave approvals, to ensure strong in-store coverage.
- Support maintaining excellent merchandising standards, ensuring the shop stays vibrant, colourful, and customer-friendly.
Stock Management
- Assist with effective stock control, optimising inventory levels.
- Help minimise discrepancies, ensuring products are always available.
- Work with the Store Manager on stock takes and recalls.
Community Engagement
- Help plan and execute evening events to boost engagement and brand vibrancy.
- Build a connected community through in-store interactions and social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).

- Essential requirements:
- Previous customer-facing supervisory/team management experience (must-have).
- Minimum 2 years of customer service experience (preferably retail).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to drive sales and meet targets.
- Solid understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc).
- Confident, adaptable, and resilient—with a knack for creative problem-solving.

The Fine Print
- Salary: Competitive and based on experience.
- Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), based in Cardiff.
