About the Role
We’re seeking an engaging and inspirational Assistant Store Manager to support the York Outlet store team in partnership with our Store Manager. In this role, you will:
- Provide leadership and guidance to deliver outstanding customer service and support business growth.
- Foster a positive and empowering working environment, prioritising team well-being.
- Collaborate closely with the Store Manager, Regional Manager, and Head Office on commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day retail operations, including:
- Coaching
- Sales analysis
- Visual merchandising
- Administration
- Step into full store & team responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Manage health & safety, security, and loss prevention initiatives.
- Achieve set KPIs (Sales, CR, UPT) within the store’s profit & loss budget.

Customer Experience & Team Development
- Lead and implement high standards of customer service through coaching.
- Ensure product knowledge excellence across the team.
- Maintain seamless, consistent customer experiences.
Stock & Commercial Management
- Follow stock control procedures (inventory checks, deliveries, loss prevention).
- Work with internal teams to maximise commercial success in alignment with Dr. Martens’ goals.
Cultural Alignment & Team Building
- Embody and strengthen our brand culture, driving engagement and collaboration.
- Build a highly engaged team through mentoring, support, and opinions sharing.
- Foster best-practice sharing and collaborative problem-solving.
- Champion DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and wellbeing initiatives through your actions.
Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Passion for Dr. Martens’ product—this should be your brand too!
- 2+ years of experience in a similar Assistant Store Manager/Supervisor role, ideally within fashion/lifestyle retail.
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and mentor teams effectively.
- Strong sales drive with the skills to motivate a team to meet goals.
- Resilient mindset with a solution-focused approach.
- Business-level fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
- Strong IT proficiency—confident using Microsoft Office and POS systems.
