Job Description

You’ll be supporting overall responsibility of all relevant duties in the absence of the Shift Supervisor, reverting to substantive duties when in the shift leader’s presence whilst maintaining moral support. Shifts will consist of 3 week rotating shift (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am)
Key Job Accountabilities
- To act as Line Manager for Personnel working on the shift ensuring they are managed in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures (e.g. Health and Safety, return to work forms, disciplinaries, sickness absence management etc).
- Complete return to work forms and authorised/unauthorised forms in line with company guidelines.
- To attend daily production meetings and any monthly supervisor’s meetings.
- Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with the employee handbook.
- Ensure production record sheets are completed correctly and all down time is recorded clearly and accurately.
- Report machine stoppages to Production Controller and maintenance for any reason other than a changeover and arrange labour accordingly.
- Ensure all PPQC and QC checks are carried out in accordance with relevant work instructions.
- To audit all pre-production checks, ensuring that all quality, production and machine set up paperwork is completed as well as colour matches are to standard. To ensure that checks continue to be completed at relevant times throughout the shift, so production is to the correct quality standard and specification. To audit collection of rejects to ensure accurate data collection.
- Provide technical support and advice to shift personnel ensuring correct procedures are followed and assist in fault finding on all processes involved in production.
- Report directly or via a handover to your manager, assistant manager or production controller when a component is not to specification and discuss and carry out appropriate corrective/remedial action. Pass on information for NPR to be raised if necessary.
- To ensure that the department is safe and clean during and at the end of each shift.
- Carry out a 6S tour once a month and share findings via a report with the office team. Display results on the KPI boards. Respond to all other audit requirements by maintaining responsibilities relating to individual delegation.
- Carry out daily PPE audits and update findings.
- To carry out reporting as necessary.
- Maintain machine safety check sheets, machine guard check sheets and glass and brittle plastics check sheets, following up on any issues and ensuring outstanding issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Ensure all temporary engineering in the department has been logged and marked up correctly in line with BRC requirements.
- To carry out admin and ensure all appropriate paperwork is completed as required by the production manager.
- To co-operate in both internal and external audits as required.
- To ensure all personnel under your control are always fully occupied and undertaking work relating to their jobs, and in accordance with relevant work instructions.
- To ensure that all personnel are compliant with Company Policies and Procedures.
- To ensure all personnel take breaks as required and are punctual in returning to work, following up any non-compliance in line with company procedures.
- To liaise with your manager or assistant manager on any training requirements for your shift personnel.
- To co-ordinate the effective use of labour.
- To provide clear and comprehensive lines of communication to all shift personnel, other shift supervisors, other departments and departmental Managers, within the organisation and those outside.
- Work with other shift supervisors to develop working practices to achieve KPI targets.
- Implement good teamwork techniques.
- Undertake Personal Performance Reviews and probation reviews of shift personnel.
- Responsible for arranging holiday and sickness cover, and emergency overtime as appropriate.
- Provide effective Shift handover daily.
- Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with current legislation and company procedures, particularly but not exclusively in regard to quality, health and safety and environment management.
- Maintaining confidentiality throughout the role where required paying particular attention to the storage of any data in line with GDPR.
- Use discretion when discussing sensitive information, both verbally and in written communication. Avoid sharing unnecessary details and maintain professionalism at all times.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Technically proficient in machine setting.
- Methodical approach to fault finding.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, and at all levels within the Company.
- Competent user of Microsoft Suite of Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of people to achieve agreed goals/objectives.
- Be able to work under pressure, remaining calm and in control with the ability to make clear decisions.
- Able to respond positively to changing work demands and motivate others during periods of change.
- Confident in making constructive decisions, challenging existing practices and looking for continuous improvement in all areas of work.
- Evaluate individuals and assess training requirements.
