Owen Reed is looking for an ambitious Assistant Tax and Trust Manager to join the Private Client team of a top law firm in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated tax professional to develop their career within a highly regarded team, working on a varied portfolio of trust and private client matters. With a hybrid working pattern of 4 days in the office and 1 day from home, you'll enjoy a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and development.

The Role

As an Assistant Tax and Trust Manager, you will work closely with experienced Tax and Trust Managers and Private Client solicitors, supporting a broad range of trust compliance and taxation matters. This is a varied role offering exposure to complex client work while providing excellent opportunities to expand your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with trust compliance, including the preparation of trust accounts and tax returns.
  • Prepare inheritance tax forms for trusts.
  • Support the preparation for and attendance at client meetings.
  • Assist with complex tax and trust matters alongside Tax and Trust Managers and Private Client solicitors.
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and industry developments.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Private Client team to deliver exceptional client service.

About You

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background and a genuine interest in trust and private client taxation.

You will have:

  • ACA qualification, ideally newly qualified with up to two years' relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of trust accounting and trust taxation.
  • An understanding of estate, personal, offshore, and indirect taxation.
  • Experience preparing trust accounts and tax returns.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good IT skills, with experience using CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax being advantageous.
  • The ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve billing targets.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
