At Equans, we’re looking for an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) to join our team at Sandwell General Hospital in West Bromwich, working 37.5 hours per week in a full-time role.
About the Role
Salary Banding: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (based on skills and experience), along with an attractive benefits package.
Are you ready to deliver excellence? Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:
- Manage a team of 6–8 Engineers with direct oversight
- Hold accountability for day-to-day operational matters to the Technical Services Manager
- Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absences, as per Senior Management directives
- Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for buildings, plant, and equipment via Maximo system, adhering to statute, regulations, ACOPs, and HTMs
- Assist in negotiating with subcontractors/suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with contract SLAs
- Support budgetary control and give additional financial assistance with departmental budgets, stock, and contracts

Qualifications & Skills
To thrive in this role, we’re looking for:

City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
-
Strong working knowledge of:
- Standard spreadsheet software
- Estates/project management systems
- Health & Safety at Work Acts
- Construction Design & Management Regulations
- Statutory maintenance documentation (HTMs, Health Building Notes)

Essential skills:
- Ability to i managed, be self-motivated, and delegate effectively
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Technical & estates understanding in maintenance, construction, and facilities management
