Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical)

Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical)

At Equans, we’re looking for an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) to join our team at Sandwell General Hospital in West Bromwich, working 37.5 hours per week in a full-time role.

About the Role

Salary Banding: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (based on skills and experience), along with an attractive benefits package.

Are you ready to deliver excellence? Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Manage a team of 6–8 Engineers with direct oversight
  • Hold accountability for day-to-day operational matters to the Technical Services Manager
  • Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absences, as per Senior Management directives
  • Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for buildings, plant, and equipment via Maximo system, adhering to statute, regulations, ACOPs, and HTMs
  • Assist in negotiating with subcontractors/suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with contract SLAs
  • Support budgetary control and give additional financial assistance with departmental budgets, stock, and contracts

Qualifications & Skills

To thrive in this role, we’re looking for:

  • City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Standard spreadsheet software
    • Estates/project management systems
    • Health & Safety at Work Acts
    • Construction Design & Management Regulations
    • Statutory maintenance documentation (HTMs, Health Building Notes)
  • Essential skills:

    • Ability to i managed, be self-motivated, and delegate effectively
    • Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment
    • Technical & estates understanding in maintenance, construction, and facilities management
