As an Assistant Technologist, you will:

What You’ll Do

As an Assistant Technologist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of all aspects of the Sainsbury’s Clothing team’s product and technical plans.
  • Ensuring consistent production of high-quality, compliant products by working closely with:
    • Suppliers
    • The Sainsbury’s brand support team
    • Product developers
    • Trading, supply chain, and retail teams
  • Collaborating with the Technical Manager to drive quality and technical agendas, including:
    • Delivering Net Zero commitments through suppliers
    • Keeping the customer at the heart of all decisions
  • Managing projects for product quality improvement, such as:
    • Implementing and challenging quality standards
    • Creating action plans to reduce complaints
    • Developing supplier targets
    • Maintaining accurate product information
    • Driving improvements in customer offer
    • Engaging with the supply base
  • Conducting supplier compliance monitoring through site visits and audits.

About You

You are a highly capable professional with:

  • A strong focus on ensuring safety, legality, and appropriate quality of products.
  • Experience working collaboratively with suppliers, product developers, and teams to deliver high-quality products aligned with specifications, standards, and policies.
  • The ability to:
    • Manage projects and implement quality standards.
    • Drive innovation and continuous improvement.
    • Take ownership of complaint reduction action plans.
    • Manage supplier performance effectively.
  • Strong technical and manufacturing experience along with commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills that contribute to achieving targets, maintaining brand reputation for quality, and promoting customer focus.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable product knowledge in slippers or related product areas, with an understanding of:
    • Product construction
    • Quality standards
  • Experience in product testing processes, including the ability to:
    • Support or interpret testing requirements and outcomes
  • Experience within clothing, footwear, or accessories categories, with transferable knowledge of:
    • Garment or product development
  • Ability to work in a hybrid office environment, with your base location as:
    • Coventry – Ansty Park Store Support Centre
