What you’ll do

As an Assistant Technologist, you’ll support the delivery of all aspects of the Sainsbury’s Brand product and technical plans for your assigned product area within the Clothing team.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring consistent quality of products through safety, legality, and quality standards in collaboration with suppliers, brand support teams, product developers, trading, supply chain, and retail.
  • Working with the Technical Manager to drive the quality and technical agenda for your product area, including Net Zero commitments through suppliers, always keeping the customer at the heart of decisions.
  • Managing projects for product quality improvement, implementing and challenging quality standards.
  • Creating action plans to reduce complaints and developing supplier targets.
  • Maintaining accurate product information, driving improvements in the customer offer, and engaging actively with the supply base.
  • Monitoring supplier compliance through site visits and audits.
  • Utilising your technical expertise, commercial awareness, and strong communication skills to ensure the safetys, quality, and success of Sainsbury’s brand products.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable product knowledge in slippers or related product areas, including an understanding of product construction and quality standards.
  • Experience in product testing processes, with the ability to support or interpret testing requirements and outcomes.
  • Experience within clothing, footwear, or accessories categories, with transferable knowledge of garment or product development.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid office environment, with a base location at Coventry – Ansty Park Store Support Centre.
