About The Role

Step into a role where you’ll build your underwriting expertise from the ground up while working alongside experienced specialists in a highly technical market. As an Assistant Underwriter within our Rights of Light team, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to underwriting practices, client interaction, and risk assessment, all within a supportive environment designed to help you grow your confidence and career.

You’ll support the underwriting team across technical and administrative activity while building your knowledge of products, risk assessment, and client engagement.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the underwriting team with day-to-day technical and administrative tasks
  • Assisting with preparation for underwriting reviews and individual risk assessments
  • Building knowledge of Rights of Light products and responding to customer queries
  • Preparing reports on key accounts to support underwriting decisions
  • Working closely with underwriters to engage and support client relationships
  • Developing understanding of underwriting practices, risk transfer and pricing approaches

Who we’re looking for

This role suits someone organised, detail-focused and eager to build a career in underwriting within a specialist insurance environment.

  • Strong attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach to work
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to team success
  • Good IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and business systems
  • An interest in underwriting, risk, or insurance (degree in Law, Economics or similar is beneficial but not essential)
