Assistant Underwriter
We are currently hiring for an Assistant Underwriter in our London office to support the profitable growth of our International Property underwriting portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Underwriting Assistant looking to take the next step in their underwriting career. Working closely with our underwriting team, you will:
- Develop technical underwriting expertise
- Build broker and client relationships
- Contribute to both retention of existing business and acquisition of new opportunities
What You'll Be Doing
Portfolio Management
- Support handling of renewals and new business submissions within delegated underwriting authority
- Ensure profitable and sustainable growth of the portfolio
Broker & Client Relationships
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with:
- Brokers
- Clients
- Reinsurers
- Lloyd’s market contacts
- Support business development and service excellence

Business Growth Support
- Identify new business and cross-selling opportunities
- Contribute to business planning activities and underwriting initiatives
Data & Portfolio Oversight
- Maintain accurate underwriting records
- Validate market data
- Update systems and spreadsheets
- Produce portfolio performance reporting and analysis
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with underwriting, claims, and other internal stakeholders
- Support portfolio monitoring, claims activity, and regulatory compliance
What We're Looking For
Underwriting Experience
- Minimum of 12 months’ experience in an Underwriting Assistant or similar insurance role
- Strong understanding of:
- Underwriting processes
- Portfolio management
Technical Knowledge
- Practical knowledge of:
- Risk assessment
- Pricing
- Policy wordings
- Claims
- Sound understanding of:
- Insurance market dynamics
- Business objectives
