Assistant Warehouse Manager

Warehouse Assistant & Van Driver

Based in Crawley, West Sussex


About the Role

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this customer-facing position is essential for maintaining efficient warehouse operations and supporting door and spare parts deliveries across the South East and Midlands regions.

You will help ensure all vehicles are correctly loaded and deliver client requirements. The role involves mix of offices-based duties, warehouse operations and customer-facing work.


Responsibilities

  • Vehicle loading/unloading:

    • Verify vehicles are correctly loaded with door parts as per client requirements
    • Help drive to South East and Midlands customer sites (self-unloading doors when required)
  • Warehouse management:

    • Lead loading teams for deliveries
    • Perform picking & packing, operate courier systems during peak seasons
    • Manage stock control, door rotation, and warehouse movements

  • Customer service:

    • Handle enquiries, provide product information, and dispatch orders
    • Enquire about new deliveries, check in stock, and prepare for large-scale shipments
  • Operational duties:

    • Vehicle maintenance – cleaning and upkeep of vans
    • Act as Key Holder, ensuring smooth operations in the Warehouse Manager’s absence
    • Proper use of Sage financial systems

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Clean driving licence (up to 3 points acceptable)
  • Warehouse experience, including forklift operation
  • South East area driving experience
  • Physically fit – capable of heavy lifting
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Trustworthiness, reliability, and a customer service mindset
  • Ability to work independently and within team settings
  • Forward-thinking, adaptive problem-solving approach
