Job Overview

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the fast-paced Surgery Directorate at Wexham Park Hospital.

The post holder will work alongside the management team to provide essential support to Medical Workforce Management. The primary focus of the role is to assist with the administrative functions associated with medical rotas, ensuring smooth day-to-day coordination and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a professional approach, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, alongside a confidential and compassionate outlook. They will be highly organised, able to work both independently and as part of a busy, high-pressure team, and capable of managing competing priorities to strict deadlines.

The overall purpose of all roles within the Directorate is to contribute to the effective delivery of patient-focused healthcare. All staff are expected to work flexibly and undertake any duties or tasks they are competent to perform in support of service needs.

Visa Sponsorship

This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.

Main duties of the job

Main duties involve providing administrative support to the Workforce Co-ordinator in relation to medical workforce rotas and staffing arrangements. The post holder will play a key role in assisting with the coordination, maintenance, and day-to-day management of rota-related processes, ensuring accurate and timely support across a busy surgical service.

The role supports a dynamic and demanding department covering Upper GI, Colorectal, General Surgery, and Urology services, contributing to the smooth running of workforce operations and helping to maintain safe and effective staffing levels across the Directorate.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GCSE English and Maths pass or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 Administration or equivalent practical knowledge or A levels

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Experience of a busy environment and dealing with the various stakeholders including, Consultants and Junior Doctors as well as admin team

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in the NHS either in a hospital, private practice or for a GP
  • Experience in a clinical setting

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload efficiently without supervision
  • Working under pressure
  • Ability to build credible relationships with all levels of medical staff and management
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
