Assistant workshop mechanic and sales assistant
Brompton Tokyo is seeking an Assistant Workshop Mechanic & Sales Assistant to join its flagship store in Jingumae. This role combines practical workshop support with in-store customer service and sales support, helping to deliver the high-quality customer experience and operational standards that define the Brompton brand. Working closely with the Lead Mechanic, you will support all workshop activities while also assisting the Assistant Store Manager with day-to-day store operations. In an open and approachable workshop environment, you will deliver highly professional service, build trust with customers and contribute to providing an outstanding brand experience. Key Responsibilities Act as a Brompton brand ambassador and deliver an excellent customer experience at every customer touchpoint. Provide specialist maintenance support, technical advice and practical solutions to customers. Respond promptly and courteously to workshop enquiries by phone and email. Support the operation of monthly maintenance events held both in store and online. Promote workshop services through Brompton’s social platforms and contribute to improving customer engagement. Prioritise mechanic responsibilities while also supporting sales and marketing activities as needed. Support the Assistant Store Manager and contribute to delivering a high-quality store experience and achieving store objectives. Manage workshop bookings and schedules to ensure that all work is completed to a high standard. Carry out repairs and maintenance in line with brand guidelines, technical materials and training content. Report product faults promptly to the customer service team in order to reduce warranty replacement lead times. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly workshop environment, including end-of-day cleaning. Replenish consumables and maintain appropriate stock levels. Report stock and risk-related issues to the Store Manager where necessary. Support monthly and annual stock counts within the workshop area. Handle stock processing and payment processing accurately in accordance with standard operating procedures and EPOS requirements. Comply with health and safety obligations and take constant care of your own safety and the safety of others. Complete all required training, including relevant Brompton Academy modules, within the designated timeframe. Skills & Experience This role is suited to someone who has solid mechanical skills, customer service experience, and a strong interest in cycling and the Brompton brand. Solid general bicycle knowledge and mechanical skills. A strong customer service mindset and the motivation to deepen Brompton product knowledge. Careful attention to detail and the initiative to take action independently. A collaborative approach and the ability to contribute to team and company goals. A high level of professionalism, energy and sense of responsibility. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly and factually to customers. Experience in customer service and sales operations; experience in lifestyle retail or bicycle brands is an advantage. Intermediate or above proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to read, write and speak both Japanese and English. The physical capability to lift boxes and bicycles, and to ride a bicycle when required.
