Assistant Youth Rowing Coach

Position Description

Assistant Youth Rowing Coach – Queen’s Park Chester Rowing Club

Programme: Rowing to Success

Company Description

Queen’s Park Chester Rowing Club is a volunteer-led organisation based on the south bank of the River Dee, Chester. Their mission is to make rowing accessible to young people—particularly those who might not otherwise have the opportunity—by promoting inclusivity, confidence-building, teamwork, and a lifelong love of sport.

As part of the Rowing to Success initiative, a collaboration between Love Rowing and local Dee-side rowing clubs, this role focuses on therapeutic and socio-educational outcomes for young people from low socio-economic backgrounds and those with disabilities. Through structured rowing programmes, participants develop mentally wellbeing, life skills, and aspirations while overcoming barriers like low aspirations, health inequalities, and poor mental health.

About the Role

The Assistant Youth Rowing Coach will be instrumental in delivering Rowing to Success. Combining rowing instruction with youth work principles, the role balances coaching, mentoring, and logistical support to create a transformative experience for young participants.

This is not a standard coaching position—it is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by fostering personal growth, inclusivity, and long-term engagement in rowing and sport.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Delivery

  • Lead indoor and water-based rowing sessions designed for safety, engagement, and developmental progression.
  • Ensure sessions are inclusive and accessible for young people with diverse needs, including disabilities.
  • Foster confidence-building, teamwork, and leadership through both individual and team-based activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
