Associate – Banking and Finance
MRA Search is partnering exclusively with Conyers in their search for an ambitious and enthusiastic lawyer to join its growing Banking and Finance Group, part of our wider Corporate Department, in the Cayman Islands.
The Group has extensive experience advising a wide range of the largest international financial institutions, private credit funds and corporate borrowers on a wide range of finance transactions, including secured and unsecured lending, fund finance (subscription line facilities, NAV facilities and hybrid facilities) asset-based lending and leveraged finance transactions.
Conyers’ Cayman Banking and Finance practice is recognised as a leading offshore finance practice and forms part of a wider multi-jurisdictional finance practice so you can also expect to work closely with colleagues in our offices in Bermuda, BVI and London as part of providing a seamless client experience on multi-jurisdictional matters.
What Will You Do
- Advise leading global banks, financial institutions, private credit funds, and corporate borrowers on a broad range of finance transactions, including secured and unsecured lending, fund finance (subscription line facilities, NAV facilities and hybrid facilities), gaining direct exposure to the most sophisticated work in the offshore finance market
- Guide clients through the full lifecycle of finance transactions, from initial structuring, negotiation, and documentation through to closing and post-closing matters, including advising on credit agreements, security packages, ancillary finance documents and running the conditions precedent process
- Provide strategic counsel on a wide range of banking and finance matters, including fund finance deals, developing deep expertise in this area of law
- Collaborate closely with partners and senior associates who are committed to your professional development, receiving hands-on mentorship and meaningful feedback
- Work on complex and high-value transactions in a jurisdiction at the forefront of global finance, helping to shape market practice and legal precedent
- Engage directly with clients from day one, building lasting relationships with onshore legal counsel and in-house legal teams at financial institutions
- Contribute to multi-jurisdictional matters alongside colleagues in our global offices, broadening your perspective and skill set across the world's premier offshore finance jurisdictions
- Participate in business development initiatives, industry events, and thought leadership opportunities
- Contribute to know-how, client alerts, training and business development initiatives that reinforce the firm’s market-leading finance practice, while mentoring more junior team members.

What You’ll Need
- 5 - 7 years’ relevant PQE, with broad finance experience gained in a recognised practice, ideally including experience of working on fund finance matters. We would also welcome interest from lawyers with other complementary transactional or banking experience with a strong interest in developing their career offshore
- Admitted, or eligible to be admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar (this means candidates who are admitted in Cayman, Australia, New Zealand, England & Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, BVI (Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court) or Bermuda).
- Strong academics
- Excellent technical and drafting skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Outgoing personality with an interest in business development
