The Team

The wider team is made up of several key practice areas, including derivatives, capital markets, securitisation/structured finance, and corporate trustee services. The derivatives team at Norton Rose Fulbright provides high-quality legal advice on a broad range of complex and cross-border derivatives transactions. The team acts for clients including financial institutions and investment banks, advising on products such as structured derivative transactions, structured repo transactions, repackagings (including SPIRE), structured notes, market-standard documentation, complex collateral structures, repos and securities lending, credit risk mitigation, insurance and alternative risk-transfer products, and Sharia-compliant structures.

The Role

We are currently looking to expand our team with the hire of a mid-senior level Derivatives Associate (although junior associate will be considered). This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative, highly motivated lawyer to work in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment within a leading global law firm. You will work alongside senior lawyers on a wide range of derivatives matters, advising on the negotiation and documentation of various derivative products, structured finance transactions, and regulatory matters. The role will also involve supporting clients in the development and execution of risk management strategies. You will engage in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex legal agreements, including ISDA master agreements, credit support documentation, and derivative trading agreements.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales (candidates with experience from other jurisdictions may also be considered)
  • Experience at a top-tier UK, US, or international law firm, with a focus on derivatives and structured finance
  • A strong academic background, with a solid understanding of derivatives products and financial markets
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on ISDA agreements, master agreements, and related documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex transactions with a high level of accuracy
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented attitude, with a willingness to learn and tackle new challenges
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact confidently with clients and senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to think strategically in a dynamic and rapidly evolving legal landscape
