Associate Building Surveyor

Associate Building Surveyor – Buildings & Places Team

Your Role

As an Associate Building Surveyor, you’ll:

  • Lead construction projects — Manage refurbishment, modernisation, and improvement projects tailoring to diverse sectors including commercial, healthcare, energy, and public real estate.
  • Deliver technical services — Undertake feasibility studies, draft specifications, obtain quotes, secure statutory approvals, and administer contracts (JCT & NEC forms).
  • Mentor & develop talent — Guide junior Building Surveyors through their RICS APC programme, offer Supervisor support, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Support senior teams — Assist managers with project oversight, quality control, and asset portfolio management.
  • Drive business growth — Identify and develop new business opportunities, consolidate bids, and maintain commercial and financial acumen for profitability.
  • Line-manage staff — Oversee regional Building Surveying teams, balancing workloads and ensuring service excellence.
  • Technical & cross-functional leadership — Apply professional building surveying standards, assess health & safety compliance, and advocate for environmental best practices.
  • Survey execution & reporting — Conduct detailed surveys, inspections, and provide actionable schedules and professional insights.

  • Minimum BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying or equivalent RICS-accredited qualification.
  • Chartered status is essential (or near-completion, if highly desirable).
  • Proven technical expertise – In-depth knowledge of building systems, statutory compliance, and commercial contracts.
  • مامتقلم وognitive experience (≥5 years) managing refurbishment projects, contracts, and client relationships with strong commercial awareness.
  • Leadership & mentorship skills – Record of training, coaching, and supervising Building Surveyors.
  • Project & workload management – Ability to prioritise deliverables efficiently across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Technical documentation – Proficiency in drafting specifications, feasibility studies, asset reviews, schedules, and corresponding technical drawings.
  • Compliance & safety – Deep understanding of HS&E regulations, health & safety policies, and UK statutory requirements.
  • Specialist competencies – Competency in specialised areas relevant to high-value construction projects (e.g., heritage conservation, M&E systems).
  • Exceptional organisational skills – Reliable time management, accountability, and commitment to excellence.
