Associate Building Surveyor
Associate Building Surveyor — Manchester or Leeds
Are you a Chartered Building Surveyor ready to lead technical delivery, win new clients and grow within an energetic national practice? Join a busy, expanding team delivering condition, specialist and project work across public and private sector portfolios.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
You will support regional business growth by implementing the regional business development plan and developing new client relationships. Day‑to‑day you will deliver condition and asset surveys, building pathology and historic fabric inspections, measured surveys, fire risk assessments, access audits, dilapidations advice, insurance valuations and planned maintenance input. You’ll prepare technical reports, tender and contract documentation, specifications and AutoCAD drawings, act as contractor administrator for small works, and support quality management.
Your Impact in this position
You will convert technical expertise into clear, commercially valuable outputs that strengthen client relationships and grow regional revenue. Your reports and designs will inform asset management decisions, reduce risk and shape maintenance programmes. As a senior member of the team you’ll coach colleagues, uphold professional standards and help shape regional delivery and strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
