We’re on a mission to back the UK’s small businesses like no one else 🚀
Small businesses are the backbone of the economy, and we’re here to help them win. We’ve built a platform that uses clever data to get them the funding they need in minutes, not weeks.
At Funding Circle, we have the restless energy of a fintech start-up with the stability of a public company. It’s a unique mix that gives Circlers the autonomy to take ownership and the scale to make an impact that truly counts.

We’re a high-performing team that chooses to lift each other up. We challenge, we champion, and we have each other’s backs - because we know that when we stand together, we move faster and build better.

The impact is real: Last year alone, the businesses on our platform generated £7.2bn for the UK economy 📈 Come and join a mission that matters!

The role ⚡

📍 London (Hybrid) | 🤝 3 days in the office | 💰 Competitive Salary + Benefits

The Capital Markets team is central to Funding Circle's strategy, responsible for securing and managing the institutional funding that underpins our lending to small businesses. As a Capital Markets Associate, you'll play a vital role in executing our funding strategy, cultivating investor relationships, and contributing to the overall financial health and growth of the business.

  • Lead the transaction execution process for various capital markets transactions, including securitisations (e.g., SBOLT), credit facilities, and loan sales. Coordinating due diligence processes, preparing data tapes, managing the closing of funding facilities and managing and providing comments on legal documentation
  • Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of institutional investors (e.g. banks, asset managers, hedge funds), including preparing high-quality investor presentations, responding to complex information requests, and leading the logistical coordination of investor meetings and roadshows. Serve as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, such as rating agencies and legal advisors, during transactions
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to analyse portfolio performance, forecast cash flows, assess potential deal structures, and evaluate the impact on funding costs
  • Prepare regular performance reports for internal and external stakeholders, tracking key metrics, analysing trends, and ensuring strict adherence to contractual requirements
  • Monitor capital markets trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to identify opportunities and risks for Funding Circle's funding strategy. Act as a technical subject matter expert on current regulations, interpreting developments and communicating practical implications to investors
  • Build a strong internal network and work closely with internal teams including Finance, Risk, Legal, Product, and Data Science to ensure alignment on capital markets initiatives and drive strategic projects
  • Support and lead projects and analysis that align with broader lending objectives, and support team development initiatives to increase market and deal knowledge

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
