About the Role

Our Catastrophic Injury & Large Loss team in Birmingham is growing, and we are looking for an ambitious Associate to join our highly regarded practice.

Working alongside experienced Partners and legal professionals, you will assist on a broad range of high-value and complex claims, including motor, employers' liability, public liability, and indemnity matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to develop their expertise in large loss litigation while working on challenging and rewarding cases for leading insurers and self-insured commercial organisations.

Whether your experience has been gained in a defendant or claimant environment, we would like to hear from talented lawyers who can demonstrate strong personal injury litigation experience and a passion for delivering outstanding client service.

What You'll Be Doing

Responsibilities

You will play a key role in supporting Partners/Legal Directors on complex large loss claims while developing your own technical expertise and client relationships. Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting on a varied caseload of high-value motor, EL/PL, and indemnity claims.
  • Investigating liability and quantum issues.
  • Taking witness statements and liaising with key stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and analysing medical records and expert evidence.
  • Drafting legal documents, pleadings, reports, and client advice.
  • Managing reporting and reserving requirements in line with client service standards.
  • Attending court hearings, case management conferences, and pre-trial meetings.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and client relationship management activities.
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the wider development of the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
