Associate Client Accountant (ACCA part-qualified with 1-2 yrs exp)
Location: London, United Kingdom
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Hybrid, 3 days onsite
Job summary:
Join our Capital Markets Europe team to support accounting and financial reporting for Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and capital markets transactions. As a Trainee Accountant, you will work with qualified accountants and senior managers to prepare accounts, support audits, and develop technical accounting skills under IFRS and local GAAP.
This is an excellent role for an organised, ambitious graduate based in London who is committed to pursuing ACCA and gaining exposure to securitisations and capital markets structures.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation of trial balances and draft financial statements (including notes) for a portfolio of SPVs.
- Post journal entries for cash, accruals, prepayments, revenue and expenses; perform reconciliations.
- Support preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts and routine client deliverables.
- Assist senior accountants and managers throughout the external audit process, preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries.
- Help prepare and file VAT and Corporation Tax returns and support iXBRL tagging of financials as required.
- Liaise professionally with clients, auditors and third-party service providers to progress deliverables and resolve queries.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Europe, Asia and the US to support global processes and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in ad hoc finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Build familiarity with capital markets products, SPV structures and regulatory requirements relevant to the role.

Required qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline (2:1 preferred).
- 1-2 years' accounting experience/internships.
- Commitment to pursue ACCA qualification within the next three years.
- Basic accounting knowledge including debits/credits and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail, conscientious approach and good problem-solving ability.
- Collaborative team player with a professional, client-focused demeanour.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Interest in capital markets, securitisations or SPV accounting.
