The Role
This senior KYC & Client Onboarding Specialist position offers exposure across MUFG Bank Ltd. and MUFG’s Banking arm, covering:
- Customer Due Diligence
- Screening (Bribery, Corruption, Adverse Media & Sanctions)
- Regulatory classification & suitability assessments
Key focus areas: ✅ Onboarding new-to-bank clients—primarily low-risk jurisdictions (UK, US, Europe, Asia) with straightforward ownership structures. ✅ Proactive support for junior analysts, delivering initiatives to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. ✅ Collaboration with cross-functional teams (AML, compliance, front-office) to enhance controls and optimise processes.

Key Responsibilities
Shortly the Holder Will Be Required to:
- Act as a dual-hat SME for both MUFG Bank and Securities business, applying uniform regulations, policies, and escalation routes.
- Ensure timely compliance with AML obligations and country-specific policies (London, Paris & Milan KYC Guidelines).
- Screen existing clients for bribery, corruption, and sanctions risks before transactions.
- Lead regulatory compliance—categorising accounts, documenting suitability assessments, and ensuring adherence to MiFID, EMIR, Dodd Frank Act, and other frameworks.
- Drive process improvements—leverage Lean On-Boarding principles to heighten efficiency and tighten risk controls.
- Review and escalate complex KYC queries—collaborating with senior teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Train & mentor junior analysts while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
- Manage escalations for junior staff, ensuring transparent and productive resolutions.
- Publish MI (Management Information) on onboarding, regulatory, and administration performance.
- Stay abreast of AML industry trends—providing actionable insights to inform team programme changes.
Flexibility: Occasional involvement in client reviews for Global Commercial Investor Banking (GCIB).

Requirements
Key Functional & Technical Competencies
- Attention to detail [Essential]
- Awareness of UK/European AML regulations [Beneficial]
- Experience in Anti-Money Laundering, fraud, financial crime, or compliance [Beneficial]
Essential Work Experience
✔ Three years+ in an FCA-regulated firm, with expertise in KYC, AML, and financial crime. ✔ Experience in a high-detail, high-accountability role (e.g., regulatory reporting, fraud risk assessment).
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent industry experience [Beneficial]
