Hours

Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:30 (37.5 hours per week)

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be a member of the Commercial Dispute Resolution team, principally reporting to Richard Wilson. The team acts for a broad range of clients in relation to complex litigation both in the UK and internationally, helping them tackle disputes effectively. The successful candidate will assist with a varied caseload from inception to conclusion. Whilst primarily based in the Leeds Office we would expect you to assist clients from across the offices of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of commercial disputes from initial instruction through to resolution.
  • Draft and review pleadings, witness statements, deal with expert evidence, prepare correspondence and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on complex legal issues.
  • Assist with court proceedings, mediations and arbitrations.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through excellent service delivery.
  • Business development including preparation of articles and insights.
  • Supervise and mentor trainees and paralegals where appropriate.

  • Demonstrable experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution gained at a reputable law firm.
  • Able to work as a team player assisting across the team as well as being able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Hard working and professional.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of clients’ needs/expectations to meet client protocols/agreed service levels.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills including ability to plan and prioritise work appropriately so that deadlines are met.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Adheres to guidelines, procedures and ethics.
  • Demonstrates the firm’s values.

It would be beneficial to have some of the following:

  • Experience advising clients in the gambling or wider regulated and ‘consumer facing’ sectors.
  • Understanding of the UK gambling regulatory framework and associated legal and commercial risks.
  • Record of contributing to team business development and developing internal and external relationships to generate opportunities.
