# Associate Commercial Manager – Met Office

Location – Exeter, South West England, EX1 3PB .with a voluntary hybrid working option (part-time office, part-time remote). A valid UK residency requirement applies for security clearance.


About the Role

The Met Office is seeking an exceptional Associate Commercial Manager to drive procurement excellence and contribute to impactful, world-changing work focused on weather accuracy, climate prediction, and public safety.

Working Arrangement

  • Role is full-time (37 hours/week)
  • Hybrid model: voluntary, non-contractual framework to balance office and remote work
  • Publishing office location (EX1 3PB) is contractual; flexible working arrangements will be tailored collaboratively

Responsibilities

The Associate Commercial Manager will oversee end-to-end procurement processes with particular focus on:

Procurement Leadership

  • Conduct pre-procurement market engagement to refine and stimulate diverse supplier engagement.
  • Develop bidders’ packs, clarify specifications, and design evaluation methodologies.
  • Employ e-sourcing/e-tendering tools (e.g., electronic procurement systems) for seamless ML cycles.
  • Achieve a balanced risk allocation and governance across tenders, ensuring total compliance.

  • Base Salary: £35,145/year
  • Civil Service Pension: Generous employer contribution; tool to £10,181/year in contribution.
  • Recruitment Retention Allowance: £2,000/annual supplemental market supplement (2026–27).
  • Annual Leave: Starts at 27.5 Days (incl. bank holidays); increases to 32.5 days after 5 years. Optional buy/sell agreements enable flexible leave adjustments.
