Exceptional Associate Commercial Manager
About the Role
We’re seeking an Associate Commercial Manager to drive meaningful change for our planet. This is a full-time (37 hours per week) opportunity, open to hybrid working arrangements, where you’ll work:
- Part of the week in-office
- Part of the week from home

Your Expertise Will Make a Difference
As an Associate Commercial Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in end-to-end procurement, building operational experience across commercial strategy, tendering, sourcing, contract management, and supplier relations.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Engagement
- Support pre-procurement market engagement to refine requirements into a clear, attractive brief for diverse suppliers
- Develop bidder packs, reconcile unclear specifications, and design rigorous evaluation criteria
- Leverage e-sourcing tools, e-tendering software, and electronic procurement platforms for efficiency
Risk & Compliance
- Identify all relevant risks, ensure alignment across stakeholders on risk ownership, management, and allocation
- Uphold high governance standards and legal compliance at every stage of procurement
- Dynamic contract management tailored to each contract’s complexity—balancing depth with business and policy objectives

Total Reward Package (Up to £49,448 Annually)
- Base Salary: £35,145
- Pension: Civil Service scheme (employer 28.97% average contribution)
- Recruitment & Retention Allowance (RRA): £2,000/annum market supplement (April 2026–March 2027)
- Annual Leave: 27.5 days (increasing to 32.5 days after 5 years) + bank holidays
- Optional buying/selling of up to 5 extra leave days per year
Essential Criteria & Qualities
Professional Qualifications
✅ Fully qualified to MIPS standard (or committed to qualifying) – demonstrating Experts by Nature
Core Skills & Experience
- Customer-centric procurement: Able to mentor others on running low-value procures and addressing commercial queries (Better Together)
- Compliance & assurance: Strong grasp of procurement rules, financial oversight, and cost-recovery mechanisms
- Stakeholder collaboration: Promptly integrates contract managers and internal teams early in the process (Better Together)
- Communication: Tailors messaging for diverse audiences—clear, persuasive, and effective
