Lab Informatics Platform Lead – Biotech Specialisation
Founded by former Benchling employees, ComputedField specialises in guiding biotech teams across Europe, the US East Coast, and the Asia Pacific in implementing, managing, and improving the scientific software systems that support their R&D work.

Role Overview
Your primary responsibility will be to serve as a dedicated lab informatics platform lead for our biotech customers, ensuring their software systems operate smoothly for their teams. You will be the go-to expert for troubleshooting issues, optimizing system usage, configuring platforms to align with scientific workflows, leading data model and workflow refresh sessions, and supporting onboarding and upskilling efforts—helping customers continually extract the most value from their technology ecosystem.
As part of our growing, collaborative team, this role offers autonomy, impact, and influence. You will shape ComputedField’s direction, strategy, processes, and culture while working directly with clients as well as larger team initiatives.

Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
- Serve as the dedicated lab informatics platform lead for biotech customers, ensuring seamless operation and optimal utilization of scientific software systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical and workflow challenges across platforms such as Benchmark, Uncountable, ELN/LIMS, ELN reporting tools, and related technologies.
- Configure and customize biotech software platforms to align with customers’ workflows, data models, and research objectives.
- Collaborate with customers to map scientific processes, capture business objectives, identify technical requirements, and pinpoint pain points.
- Lead discovery, optimization, and data model refresh sessions to ensure systems evolve alongside scientific and operational needs.
- Support customer onboarding and upskilling by developing training materials, delivered virtually or in-person.
- Partner with customers to improve workflows, platform functionality, data capture, and reporting efficiency.
- Work independently while contributing to team-wide, complex projects.
- Deepen expertise in biotech software platforms, scientific workflows, troubleshooting, and customer-focused problem-solving.
- Create and maintain knowledge bases, documentation, training resources, and reusable implementation patterns for internal and external use.
- Balance autonomy with collaboration in a fully remote environment, driving productivity while maintaining strong team communication and collective results.

Secondary Responsibilities
- Support internal process improvements to elevate company operations and customer experience.
- Foster industry outreach by attending events, representing ComputedField, and engaging in online communities.
- Assist with business development, including scoping projects, joining sales pitches, and compiling proposals for new clients.
- Manage client support independently while contributing to complex, team-led projects.
- Build and nurture industry relationships.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
- BS or M.Sc. in Life Science (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Bioengineering, etc.) is required. This role is also suited for recent graduates.

Technical & Practical Knowledge
- Experience functioning in a lab or research environment, enabling strong connection with scientists and quick absorption of complex ideas.
- Proven familiarity with scientific software, lab informatics, workflow automation, or digital data systems (ELN/LIMS platforms like Benchmark, Uncountable are highly preferred).
- Familiarity with technologies such as SQL, API integrations, Python, or data analytics is advantageous but not mandatory.
Customer and Support Experience
- Experience in a customer-facing, support, or consultative role, proven through employment, internships, or dedicated projects.
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to quickly assess customer inquiries, source information, and deliver a timely, relevant solution.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills when navigating competing priorities.
- Empathy and diplomacy, with a customer-first mindset and the skill to manage expectations, handle complex requests, and advocate proactively.
- Demonstrated self-sufficiency and initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Curiosity, creativity, and persistence in driving solutions and resolving issues for clients.
