With specialist expertise across Compliance, Risk, Accounting, Finance, and Legal, we partner with leading financial institutions, from hedge funds, private equity firms, and asset managers to global banks and markets, insurers, and consultancies, delivering retained, contingent, and interim recruitment solutions.
We’re expanding our London office and are searching for an Associate Consultant to join our Compliance and Legal practice. This is a junior, entry-level role into recruitment, ideal for someone early in their career who is motivated, curious, and interested in building deep market knowledge.

This position is a 180-recruitment role, focused entirely on candidate attraction, sourcing, and engagement. You will work closely with an established Associate Director, supporting live mandates with high-quality candidate delivery, with no initial expectation of business development.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Proactively sourcing and engaging high-calibre candidates across compliance and legal roles within financial services and alternative investments
- Building strong, long-term relationships with candidates, acting as a trusted advisor throughout their career journey
- Managing candidate pipelines for live mandates, ensuring timely, high-quality shortlists
- Conducting detailed candidate interviews to assess technical capability, motivation, and cultural fit
- Developing creative and effective candidate attraction strategies across LinkedIn, databases, referrals, and networking
- Maintaining accurate and well-structured records using our CRM
- Supporting the Associate Director with research, market mapping, and candidate insights
- Learning the fundamentals of recruitment best practice, market knowledge, and search methodology through structured training and on-the-job coaching

- A graduate or early-career professional keen to build a career in recruitment or financial services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging people at all levels
- A proactive, resilient mindset and a genuine interest in understanding people and markets
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Commercially curious, with the ambition to progress into a full 360 or specialist role over time
- Alignment with Coopman’s values around integrity, impact, and long-term thinking
