Job Description

Role Title: Associate Cost Manager / Commercial Manager Location: Infrastructure department

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Associate Cost Manager or Commercial Manager to support our prestigious infrastructure-based projects.

As the successful candidate, you will bring extensive expertise in cost management to challenge and support project delivery in a dynamic environment. Key traits include:

Main Purpose of the Role

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, teams and stakeholders to ensure success.
  • Administer a variety of contracts, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Provide accurate cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting against budgets.
  • Proactively manage cost variances and contract cash flow, submitting applications in full and on time.
  • Work with client, contractor and internal teams to deliver against KPIs:
    • Programme performance
    • Cost control
    • Value engineering
  • Effectively manage contract changes, adhering to governance and best practices.
  • Continuously improve the fidelity of forecasts and budgets.
  • Apply sound commercial knowledge and support to all stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Lead teams/posts when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in Cost / Commercial Management (minimum 5 years).
  • MRICS qualification (preferred).
  • Knowledge of NEC3 Contracts (particularly Option C – Target Cost).
  • Post-contract administration experience.
  • Major programme and project delivery in infrastructure sectors, such as:
    • Rail
    • Airports
    • Marine / Ports
    • Utilities
    • Highways
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams.
