About The Role
As Principal Creative, you’ll lead the creative vision for one of BT Group’s key brands, shaping all touchpoints from concept to execution. Responsible for:
- Setting creative standards, overseeing quality, and championing bold ideas
- Guiding a team of designers, copywriters, and digital designers
- Championing brand-first approaches that drive impactful, customer-centred work
This role demands a visionary leader who thrives on delivering standout campaigns, delivering insights, and fostering a culture of creative excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing
Strategic & Conceptual Direction
- Collaborate with strategists to translate briefs into commercially sound, creatively compelling solutions
- Balance requirements for execution efficiency with mechanical innovation
Creative Development & Execution
- Take ownership of the integrated campaign vision across all formats:
- TV, digital video, social, print, outdoor, retail, and experiential
- Personally contribute via writing, art direction, or conceptualising as needed
- Multiply impact through channel-aware ideation and scalable, repeatable designs
Brand Ownership & Quality
- Act as the final quality gatekeeper to ensure deliverables meet brand DNA and commercial goals
- Maintain brand-mindset positioning, leveraging category-specific insight to differentiate
- Develop and enforce standards that elevate the customer experience

Team Leadership & Mentorship

Stakeholder Presentation & Advocacy
- Confidently sell creative ideas to senior leaders, articulating rationale and justifying decisions
- Bridge gaps between creative ambition and client expectations
Client & Cross-Team Relationships
- Build trust-based relationships with stakeholders, including Account Managers and Strategists
- Align on briefs, strategy, vision, and creative criteria through diplomacy
- Manage conflicts by championing bold ideas with reasoned backing
Creative Innovation & Forward Thinking
- Stay ahead of emerging trends, technology, and AI-driven tools
- Break norms while balancing calculated risk-taking with commercial necessity
- Voraciously curate disruptive ideas backed by sophisticated execution
Essential Requirements
- Proven senior creative or creative leadership experience from agencies or in-house environments
- Track record of leading creative teams
- Portfolio demonstrating campaign ideas that bridge strategically-driven concepts and execution across multiple channels
- History of producing brand impact with aligned business outcomes
- Experience with stakeholders at senior levels, including clients
- Background in major consumer brands, preferably telecommunications or tech
- Ability to drive integrated campaigns for execution
- Track record of mentoring junior creatives
Desirable (But Not Mandatory)
- In-house or brand-side creative experience
- Familiarity with telecoms brands or B2C sectors
- Award-winning recognition (D&AD, Cannes etc.)
- Cross-domain expertise in brand and performance creative
- Digital-first and rapid-content creation experience
- Curious pragmatic approach to agile workstreams
