About the Role
Data and analytics are critical to our success. Our Architecture team designs frameworks, policies, and data standards to maximize value by transforming data into actionable insights, enabling:
- Data-driven decision-making grounded in evidence—not intuition alone
- Proactive opportunity recognition, outpacing competitors in new market entry
- Identifying cost-saving efficiencies that enhance team productivity and business value
Key Objectives
As an Associate Architect, you will oversee the evolution of our data estate and furnish the team’s technical backbone for enhanced efficiency:
- Define data capture standards in front-end systems, aligned with business outcomes
- Specify data structures and storage solutions that deliver holistic business impact
- Develop and enforce data policies to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability
- Establish data quality criteria and mitigation strategies across the organization
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate on strategic data architecture, embedding best practices while accommodating business requirements
- Bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business needs into actionable data models and integration patterns
- Author enforceable frameworks, standards, and policies to guide consistent data practices
- Model logical and conceptual data architectures and guide implementation of novel systems
- Prototype emerging technologies (e.g., event streaming, APIs) and shape scalable, profitable solutions
- Navigate governance reviews and propose야 strategic 방향으로된 data management best practices
- Cultivate expertise in data governance and quality tools (e.g., metadata systems, MDM strategies)
- Integrate cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) into our tech stack
- Continuously align technology roadmaps with AXIS group strategy and business growth objectives

This role reports to the Head of Data Architecture.
About You
While AXIS values the following traits, we’re equally intrigued by unconventional strengths that align with our goals:
Required Experience & Skills:
- 3–4+ years in:
- Data design/construction (preferably with enterprise data lakes/warehouses or MDM expertise)
- Technical roles (software engineering, data governance, or analysis preferred)
- Proven API expertise in context of cloud integration (e.g., Azure, microservices)
- Hands-on knowledge of data platforms like Snowflake/Databricks in production environments
- Experience diagnosing data quality issues, implementing remediation steps, and scaling solutions
- Strategic perspective, balancing architectural decisions against business imperatives

Preferred Knowledge:
- Depth in insurance data (including underwriting processes across UK, Bermuda, and US markets)
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and insurance-specific systems
Must-Have Traits:
- Driven self-learning attitude, curiosity to evolve your skills
- Technical aptitude, capable of guiding code while explaining concepts clearly
- Resilience in ambiguity—ability to adapt priorities with transparency
- Collaborative communication skills ( articulating to business users, architects alike)
- Customer-centric mindset (information accuracy = profit protection)
Benefits & Compensation
We offer a competitive benefits package alongside a base salary of CAD $70,000–110,000 (adjusted for location and experience). Benefits include:
