Associate Data Engineer

Job Description

An opening exists for a motivated Junior Data Engineer to assist with the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data solutions on the Databricks platform.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of scalable data pipelines within Databricks.
  • Assist in building and maintaining ETL/ELT processes using PySpark and Spark SQL.
  • Support implementation of Data Lakehouse and Medallion Architecture frameworks.
  • Help with ingestion, transformation, and integration of data from multiple source systems.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, and governance.
  • Monitor data processing workloads and escalate issues as required.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements.
  • Follow established data engineering standards, best practices, and frameworks.
  • Participate in EMR, planning, and release activities for data solutions.

Key Qualifications

  • Educational background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related discipline.
  • Desirable certifications:
    • Azure Fundamentals or Azure Data Fundamentals.
    • Databricks Fundamentals or Associate certification.
    • Relevant cloud, data engineering, or analytics certifications.

Experience Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related roles.
  • Exposure to:
    • Databricks
    • PySpark
    • SQL
    • Cloud-based data platforms (via commercial experience, internships, or projects)
  • Foundational understanding of:
    • Data Lakehouse concepts
    • ETL/ELT principles
    • Data warehousing fundamentals
