Purpose of Job

The role contributes to the implementation of the Bank’s Digital Approach. The Digital Approach highlights the role the EBRD can play in: (i) financing the digital transformation of its clients; (ii) strengthening skills and awareness of digital transformation trends; and (iii) establish and improve robust digital governance practices, all the while (iv) deepening and strengthening cybersecurity technology adoption, skills and processes.

The Associate will play an instrumental part in designing and deploying new digital products dedicated to the EBRD’s business with partner financial institutions. More specifically, the Associate will support and be part of product development, tracking of digital investments, knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing.

Background

Accelerating the digital transition’ is one a strategic enabler of the Bank’s transition mandate under the medium-term Strategy (the Strategic and Capital Framework 2026-2030). To operationalise this digital mandate, the Bank has developed a Digital Approach that outlines its vision of how to deepen its engagement around digital aspects across investment, policy and advisory services.

Facts / Scale

  • Support the creation and development of a compelling product range to help our Corporate clients in their digital transformation journey, as well as contribute to operationalising the Digital Approach.
  • Lead knowledge development and thought leadership around digital transformation trends relevant to the EBRD’s Corporate Sector, including through the preparation of primers.
  • Lead the Digital Hub’s engagement with sister IFIs and other International Organisations.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Product Deployment

  • Lead the design, deployment, and delivery of cyber-resilient digital transformation assignments aimed at EBRD’s partner financial institutions and of their clients.
  • Under the leadership of the Principal II – Financial Institutions, support the design, deployment, and delivery of cyber-resilient digital transformation portfolio and policy engagements of EBRD’s partner financial institutions.
  • Conceptualise, pilot and develop additional digital products for partner financial institutions of their clients as the needs of the market dictate, to further strengthen the Bank’s digital product range.
  • Advise banking teams how and where to expand direct investment and lending technology-based financial companies.
  • Maintain an overview of Bank-wide activities across client-facing teams in their area of expertise and ensure a consistent approach in terms of language, scope and implementation, and appropriate capturing of results and impact.
  • Work in collaboration with other departments (Banking, Policy Strategy and Delivery, Impact & and Legal Transition Team) to deploy the best value proposition to EBRD clients.

Knowledge Development and Sharing

  • Feed findings and learnings into dedicated knowledge-sharing and training events to raise awareness of the product range and enable a basic product literacy across EBRD’s workforce.
  • Ensure solid understanding of the digital product range offering among EBRD’s ‘Network of Digital Champions’.

Knowledge Acquisition

  • Keep abreast of industry developments and suggest new possible interventions, where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Policy, Strategy and Delivery Department and the Legal Transition Team to identify policy / regulatory barriers to digital transformation of the financial sector in EBRD’s region of operation.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields
  • Great understanding of digital world and processes, barriers and enablers of digitalisation for financial institutions, with strong innovative mind-set;
  • Quantitative/numerical skills to the extent necessary to understand the Bank’s financial and operational data, and to perform basic data analysis;
  • Understanding and familiarity with EBRD’s business model and multilateral character, including the ability to work with colleagues from diverse international backgrounds in inclusive and trust-building manner.
  • Proven track record of developing new business, identifying customer needs and customised solutions.
  • Proficient in managing complex project management cycles from prospecting to closing.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align institutional strategies with business objectives.
  • Good understanding and interest in the issues of economics and banking, and familiarity with the EBRD region;
  • A true team player and strong work ethic committed to continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Adaptable, tenacious and flexible who is able to perform under pressure.
