Associate Director

Associate Director (MRICS) – Project & Commercial Surveying Role

About the Role

My client is seeking an experienced Associate Director (MRICS) to join their growing team and lead the delivery of high-quality surveying services across commercial, residential, and public-sector portfolios. This is a key strategic role, responsible for:

  • Managing complex projects across all stages of development
  • Developing client relationships while fostering junior surveyor progression
  • Overseeing technical deliverables, business growth, and operational efficiency

Your Responsibilities

Project & Service Delivery

  • Lead and deliver refurbishment, fit-out, and maintenance projects through all RIBA stages
  • Undertake core professional services, including:
    • Dilapidations assessments
    • Technical due diligence
    • PPM (Property, Planning and Management)
    • Asset management strategies
  • Manage multiple projects (up to £1m in value), ensuring quality, compliance, and commercial performance
  • Provide expert technical advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams

Operational & Strategic Support

  • Oversee fund monitoring commissions and reporting
  • Mentor and support APC (Associate Membership Programme) candidates and junior team members
  • Contribute to business development and client retention
  • Support the implementation of decarbonisation and Net Zero-aligned strategies

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • MRICS qualification (or equivalent senior-level experience as a surveyor)
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Building pathology
    • Construction methods
    • Contract administration

Skills & Attributes

  • Proven experience delivering professional services in a client-facing environment
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and external consultants
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Commercial awareness, independence, and willingness to work autonomously
  • Highly desirable: Interest or experience in sustainability, decarbonisation, or Net Zero projects
