Associate Director, Analytics – Global Clients

This role is within the Data, Tech, and Analytics (DTA) team, within the Global Client Solutions (GCS) organisation. The GCS team is responsible for all global clients within WPP. DTA is responsible for servicing clients with best-in-class data solutions, data strategy, analytics, technology and AI solutions to drive client growth.

About the Role

We are seeking an Analytics Associate Director to join our growing Analytics & Data Science team, reporting into the Data, Tech, and Analytics global lead. The team focuses on media effectiveness measurement, campaign analysis and client communication to help make brands become more valuable to the world.

You will be working with a leading advertiser, JLR, to harness their data and improve the performance of their campaigns, developing and deploying media measurement solutions. Communication with client stakeholders and effective management of assigned tasks is critical in this role. You will be joining an award-winning team, with more than 16 tech and media industry awards, including:

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Analytics Application

  • Build and apply a deep understanding of marketing objectives to support Account teams with comprehensive measurement and testing plans.
  • Develop and implement new methods, techniques, tools, and systems for "best-in-class" analytical capabilities.
  • Manage the process from conception to delivery and take ownership of global roll-outs.

Marketing & Business Effectiveness

  • Lead the creation of clear, robust, and thought-provoking campaign reviews and insights.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness.
  • Present insightful campaign reviews to the wider team and clients.

Measurement Frameworks & Experimentation

  • Develop a deep understanding of marketing platform testing and targeting abilities.
  • Consultatively implement these capabilities to optimise campaign performance, particularly in brand and conversion lift studies.

Client Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with senior client marketing, analytics, and data leads.
  • Act as a knowledgable and credible day-to-day strategic partner.

Internal Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage relationships with data engineering teams and set automation strategies for integrating tools and solutions.

Commercial Contribution

  • Contribute to the commercial health of your client account.
  • Participate in new business pitches, developing data and tech solutions to demonstrate WPP Media’s capabilities.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for assessment and management of bespoke measurement solutions, including contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs).

Thought Leadership

  • Translate complex data concepts for stakeholders.
  • Contribute to company data strategy and promote data-driven innovation within the media industry.

Essential Qualifications

  • Highly numerate: Capability to confidently interpret data and apply statistical tests to draw robust conclusions.
  • Hold a degree(s) in one or more of the following quantitative fields:
    • Statistics
    • Mathematics
    • Economics
    • Engineering
    • Physical Science
    • Computer Science

Experiences

  • Proven experience in analytics, measurement, data science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of applying measurement to media campaigns through platforms like Meta/Google, including:
    • Brand and conversion lift studies
    • Matched market tests
    • Other innovative approaches.

Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Deep understanding of statistics, including:
    • Hypothesis testing
    • Descriptive statistics
    • Distribution theory
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, using project management tools such as Jira/Trello. Experience in project management of analytics projects.
  • Highly competent at presenting data in a visually engaging and insightful manner.
  • Proficient in SQL as well as R/Python, including packages like:
    • Pandas
    • Numpy
    • SciPy
    • Matplotlib
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis for digital campaigns.
  • Understanding of media data and incremental measurement, including:
    • Direct Response campaigns
    • Brand programs
  • Knowledge of advanced measurement tools, including:
    • Media Mix Modeling (MMM)
    • Marketing Touchpoint Analysis (MTA)
    • Sales lift models
    • Brand studies
