Bridges and Structures Solutions Engineer

About the Role
As a key member of our Bridges and Structures team, you’ll help drive our transformation into a solutions-focused provider, harnessing new technologies, digital processes, and lean methodologies to improve efficiency and deliver greater value to clients. With a focus on sustainability and decarbonisation, your skills in advanced technical engineering, leadership, and risk management will enable us to deliver innovative structural solutions across highways, rail, aviation, energy, and power sectors.
Our Structural Solutions capability sits within Jacobs’ wider Transportation business, renowned for executing technically complex schemes locally and internationally. Past projects include High Speed 2, National Highways, Network Rail, Welsh Government, and Local Authorities—helping shape the infrastructure of tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities
You’ll take the lead in:
- Mentoring and managing delivery of structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender and detailed designs, plus contract documents and technical reports
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to ensure integrated, high-quality client outcomes
- Driving innovation through data-driven, automated, and standardised processes to enhance project efficiency and productivity
- Collaborating with UK and Global Integrated Delivery teams to optimise resources and meet project objectives

What You’ll Need
Jacobs seeks proactive engineers who bring a blend of technical expertise and people leadership. Successful candidates will have:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline)
- Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered status where applicable)
- Strong problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience in structural design, feasibility studies, or related specialisations
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management abilities
- Project leadership with experience in delivering complex schemes
- Experience in asset management, structures renewals, or post-tensioned structures is highly valued
Note: While we’re particularly interested in candidates with bridge design or maintenance backgrounds, we’re open to diverse engineering disciplines and backgrounds.
