Structural Solutions Engineer – Bridges & Structures

Your Impact: Leading Structural Innovation
As part of our Bridges & Structures team, you’ll lead the charge in modernising engineering delivery—fusing advanced technology, digital innovation, and lean methodologies to enhance efficiency, decarbonise projects, and exceed client expectations.
Core Responsibilities
- Cross-disciplinary leadership: Lead and mentor teams in structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender designs, and post-tender execution (production of contract documents and technical reports).
- Integrated project delivery: Collaborate seamlessly with other engineering functions to ensure cohesive, high-quality provision of structural solutions across highways, rail, aviation, energy, and power.
- Innovative problem-solving: Champion data-driven, automated, and standardised approaches to improve project efficiency and productivity—prioritising collaboration with global and UK Integrated Delivery Team members.
- Research and development: Drive forward-thinking solutions, specialising in asset management, structure renewals, post-tensioned systems, and post-tensioned special inspections.
- Technical excellence: Deliver high-profile schemes for clients like HS2, Highways England, Network Rail, Welsh Government, and National Contractors, working with standards and bespoke needs.

This role sits within Jacobs’ Transportation business in the UK and oversees structural solutions within a portfolio of some of the most ambitious infrastructure projects internationally.

Essential
- Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering, with Professional Qualification (e.g., MICE, CEng).
- Proven skills in communication, teamwork, and project leadership—particularly applicable to bridges or structural design.
- Strong technical problem-solving and design experience in statics, structural analysis, and-related disciplines.
- Project management experience with multi-disciplinary influences.
Desirable
- Hands-on experience in asset management, structural renovations, or post-tensioned structures (e.g., PTSI) testing.
- Exposure to digital engineering toolkits or standards-oriented methodologies.
