As part of our Bridges and Structures team, you’ll lead a transformation towards a solutions-focused provider, integrating emerging technologies, digital processes, and lean methodologies. With a key focus on sustainability and decarbonisation, you’ll apply your expertise in structural engineering, team leadership, and process optimisation to deliver innovative solutions for highways, rail, aviation, and energy.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a senior structural engineer (or project leader) to shape our Structural Solutions group by:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor teams in structural design, analysis, feasibility studies, tenders, and detailed schematics, as well as the production of technical reports, contract documents, and certifications.
- Collaborate across disciplines to deliver inventive, high-quality solutions that meets and exceeds client expectations.
- Champion innovation through data-driven automation, standardisation, and process optimisation, improving productivity and project outcomes.
- Partner with our UK and global Integrated Delivery teams to ensure optimal resource utilisation and efficent scaling of multidisciplinary projects.
Your work will directly impact major infrastructure projects, contributing to high-profile schemes for clients like:

About This Role
This is a new opportunity to join the Jacobs Structural Solutions Group—a team dedicated to solving complex infrastructure challenges. You’ll be delivering cutting-edge designs across transport, energy, and the built environment, while fostering a culture of collaboration, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
With a focus on post-tensioned structures, asset management, and scheme renewals, you’ll leverage your expertise to drive forward smooth, efficient, and impactful project execution.
What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (or related discipline) with a strong technical background.
- A professional qualification (preferably Chartered or Associate).
- Proven experience leading large-scale transport or structural projects, including bridges, pavements, or renewals.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills, with a desire to drive team and organisational excellence.
- Hand-on technical expertise in design processes, project execution, and soft-play troubleshooting.
- While specific bridge design experience is valuable, we’re open to applicants from other disciplines (e.g. asset management, renewables, and more) who can bring fresh perspectives to our teams.
Note: We particularly value candidates with fieldwork, administration, or post-tensioned special inspection experience.
