Associate Director, Bridges and Structures - UK Wide

Structural Solutions Engineer (Bridge & Structures) – Jacobs

Your impact

As a key member of our Bridges and Structures team, you’ll help drive Jacobs’ transformation into a solutions-focused provider, leveraging new technologies, digital processes, and lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and deliver greater value to clients. With a strong focus on sustainability and decarbonisation, you’ll apply your advanced technical, interpersonal, and organisational skills to deliver structural solutions across sectors including:

  • Highways
  • Rail
  • Aviation
  • Energy
  • Power

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor teams in:
    • Structural analysis
    • Feasibility studies
    • Tender and detailed design
    • Production of contract documents and technical reports
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated services and high-quality outcomes for clients
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing data-driven, automated, and standardised solutions to enhance project efficiency and productivity
  • Collaborate with UK and Global Integrated Delivery teams to optimise resources and ensure successful project delivery

About the role

Selection criteria

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline)
  • A professional qualification (e.g., MICE, MIMMM, CPEng, or equivalent)
  • Outstanding soft skills:
    • Communication, collaboration, and time management
    • Project management and leadership (with bridge design experience ideally)
  • Strong technical design and problem-solving skills

Ideal but not mandatory:

  • Experience in asset management, structures renewals, or post-tensioned systems, particularly post-tensioned special inspections (PTSI)
