Overview
My client is a boutique, non-bank lender who provides Development Finance and Investment Loans.
The successful candidate will be responsible for approving the loan before they present the written credit paper to credit committee and proceed to close the loan once CP’s are concluded and identified risks adequately mitigated. Taking responsibility for the due diligence process relating to each allocated loan (with a focus on development finance lending).
Responsibilities
- Review and sign-off of initial loan pack produced by Loan Originator (prior to presentation to credit committee), including:
- Review of Heads of Terms
- Review of Initial Q.S. Report
- Review of Valuation Report
- Review of Credit Reports and A&L Statements
- Review of Borrower Track Record
- Review of Development Appraisal (analysing build costs, values, plans, local market liquidity etc.)
- Review of Originator’s Loan Memorandum

- Detailed review and analysis of the Company's Solicitors’ report on title to be able to advise the business on such matters as:
- Title matters (inc. ownership, restrictive covenants, Ownership, overage, etc)
- Agreements affecting the property searches (inc. date undertaken, issues raised, indemnity availability etc.)
- Planning (inc. relevant dates, development permitted, conditions etc) S106 and CIL
- Lease reviews (if applicable)
- Rights of Light
- Insurances
A solid understanding of these requirements within residential development is essential for the role.

Working with the Company's Solicitors to:
- Draft Robust and Correct Security Documents
- Determine Conditions Precedent and Subsequent Requirements
In addition to the above, the role includes the following responsibilities:

- Presenting to the credit committee and key stakeholders
- Meeting agreed company targets for credit worthiness and defaults
- Adhering to all compliance needs within the business
What you will Bring:
- Attention to detail is absolutely vital
- Must have experience in underwriting residential development finance loans between £2m - £50m. Must have an excellent understanding of those key areas they are required to review i.e. title and borrower reports, planning/S106, valuation, IMS reports and insurances
- Ability to work under demanding deadlines
- Must be analytical and good with numbers
- A highly skilled communicator with superior written and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- A positive & tenacious attitude
- IT literacy - good command of MS Office
