G3 continues to grow, and we are seeking highly capable people to join us as Associate Directors in our London office.
G3 counsels business leaders and investors on the decisions that matter most to their organisations. We work alongside clients on many of the world's most significant transactions and corporate movements, advising on M&A, regulatory and policy matters, and senior appointments.
Clients turn to G3 because they need a better understanding of a commercial risk, a regulatory environment or an executive team, and because they value the independence and discretion of our work. Our clients include many of the world’s largest corporations, leading private equity funds, and major institutional investors. Many of them have worked with us for years.
The Role
An Associate Director owns G3's most demanding engagements. In any given month, an Associate Director may help a deal team weigh the commercial risks in a major transaction or advise on how shifting political dynamics should shape a client's positioning.
Much of this work is informed by G3's network – a global community of contacts cultivated over many years, whose perspective and access make our advice possible. Associate Directors learn to draw on the network and, over time, contribute to it.
The heart of the role is judgement. We are brought into complex, ambiguous situations to provide clients with insight to support their decision-making. Associate Directors are expected to move between sectors, jurisdictions, and subject areas they may have had no prior exposure to. What matters is not what they already know, but the speed at which they can get to grips with a problem and the judgment they bring to bear once they do.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

How we frame and deliver our work is central to what we do, and much of our advice is delivered in writing and on calls with senior clients. We expect Associate Directors to be articulate, precise, and confident advisers who can hold their own with decision-makers.
What we are looking for
We are looking for candidates with at least eight years’ experience in law, finance, consulting, corporate strategy, government, or comparable environments.
We do not hire for a single profile, and our work benefits from a range of perspectives. Typically, excellent candidates:
- Are already exceptional project managers and are able to run demanding engagements end-to-end with limited oversight.
- Are investigative by instinct: curious, persistent, and entrepreneurial in finding what they need.
- Have high emotional intelligence and sound commercial judgement, quick to grasp what a client is really worried about and trusted to counsel them on it.
- Are strong generalists, with an excellent academic background and a demonstrable interest in writing, reasoning, and learning.
We also look for people who want to be part of building something. G3 is a growing firm, and the people who thrive here not only deliver excellent client work but also help shape the firm itself.
What comes next
Associate Directors are central to G3. They lead client projects, deepen their advisory and client-management skills, and, over time, build the broader experience needed to become a Director. This includes:
- Client management: leading client engagements and being accountable for their quality;
- People management: taking responsibility for small teams and the development of the colleagues within them;
- Firm-wide understanding: learning how every part of G3 works and supporting the operational success of the company.

The people who progress furthest are those who set the standard for those around them, are committed to bringing colleagues along, and care about the firm's growth as much as their own success.
The route from Associate Director is to Director, which carries full responsibility for a team alongside greater strategic responsibility and the long-term stewardship of G3's practices and client relationships. Some have moved into senior operational and business development roles at the firm.
