Job Description

About the Role

We’re seeking a talented individual to join our Financial Planning team in Bristol. As part of a large, highly successful FP team, you’ll have all the support & resources to accelerate your career, collaborate with some of the largest clients, and generate new business. If you are ambitious, client-focused, and eager to grow, we’d love to speak to you.

You will:

  • Build and develop trusted relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Deliver personalised, tailored financial planning and wealth management advice, aligned with advice and control policies.
  • Work within an agreed business plan, ensuring all advice is suitable, thoughtful, and aligned with clients’ needs.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Client support and needs assessment: Ensuring clients receive ongoing, high-quality care.
  • New business development & client retention:
    • Execute the annual Business Plan while meeting agreed targets.
    • Build new client relationships and maintain existing ones through exceptional service.
    • Minimise attrition and secure new referrals/instructions from satisfied clients.
  • Professional client interactions:
    • Structure and lead client meetings professionally, delivering technically accurate, up-to-date advice.
    • Ensure advice addresses retirement planning, inheritance, tax efficiency, and broader financial objectives.
  • Strategic client reviews:
    • Conduct annual client reviews, aligning recommendations with evolving risk attitudes and long-term goals.
  • Collaboration across teams:
    • Work closely with Investment Management (IM) and Professional Services (PS) colleagues to strengthen client relationships.
    • Build and maintain client relationships with professional advisers (COIs) to expand network reach.
  • Business pipeline management:
    • Maintain the New Business Pipeline (NBP)—ensuring values and dates are up-to-date.
  • Compliance & record keeping:
    • Ensure comprehensive, accurate, up-to-date client records in line with Group policy.
  • Client conflict resolution:
    • Strive for zero complaints; if any arise, escalate them to the Client Resolution Team and assist in a timely, satisfactory resolution.
  • Professional development:
    • Commit to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to uphold industry, regulatory, and internal standards, contributing to your long-term growth and the organisation’s success.

  • Have proven experience advising clients on a fee basis.
  • Demonstrate clear communication of financial planning practices (both technically and in a client-friendly manner).
  • Show the ability to analyse client information and make suitable recommendations.
  • Possess holistic technical/product knowledge to offer customised financial strategies.
  • Display a strong client service ethic and a results-driven approach.
  • Manage workloads under pressure, prioritising effectively.
  • Operate within a risk management framework, with expertise in private client risk mitigation.

Professional Qualifications & Education

  • Hold or aspire towards a relevant level 4 or above qualification (target: Level 7) and maintain an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing.
