About the Role

There has never been a more exciting time to join RSM UK’s digitally led Forensic practice. As our Forensic team continues to expand, we are seeking an Associate Director to contribute to:

  • Leading, developing, and delivering complex investigations across diverse clients.
  • Supporting the growth of a forward-thinking, ambitious team.

Our Forensic practice assists organisations facing high-profile and sensitive matters, integrating investigative expertise, commercial insight, and robust analysis to help clients navigate intricate challenges. This role will involve taking responsibility for engagements related to:

  • Fraud and misconduct investigations.
  • Financial irregularities, regulatory enquiries, and other contentious matters.
  • Collaboration with senior clients, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies.

As an Associate Director in Forensic Investigations, you will:

  • Oversee a portfolio of forensic engagements from beginning to end.
  • Forge and manage trusted client relationships.
  • Lead high-calibre investigations and aid junior team development.
  • Play a pivotal role in business development, further defining our forensic practice and driving growth.

Key Responsibilities

Your impact will be far-reaching:

  • Leadership:

    • Conduct investigations across matters including fraud, misconduct, financial irregularities, and regulatory issues.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor and stakeholder liaison.
  • Execution:

    • Strategise, manage, and deliver end-to-end investigations—defining scope and methodology, mitigating risk, adhering to timelines, and ensuring quality outcomes.
  • Relationship Management:

    • Build and nurture relationships with clients, legal advisors, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide transparent updates, manage expectations, and advocate findings transparently.
  • Business Growth:

    • Develop new business by submitting proposals, tendering, networking, and seizing opportunities to expand forensic services.
    • Strengthen the team’s market presence.
  • Leadership & Coaching:

    • Mentor and develop junior team members.
    • Support resource alignment, knowledge exchange, and ensure high-quality, consistent delivery.

Requirements & Criteria

Core Qualifications & Experience

  • Commercial investigatory expertise backed by a substantial track record of leading complex forensic investigations (e.g., fraud, misconduct, financial crime, regulatory matters). Backgrounds in forensic accounting, corporate investigations, law enforcement, or regulatory fields are ideal.
  • Senior-level qualifications (e.g., ACA/equivalent) and/or a sterling forensic and investigative career, with additional accreditations (e.g., CFE) viewed positively.
  • A PRME Report.net Professional Requirements Framework.

Ideal Candidate Traits

Investigator

  • Proven success in leading forensic investigations and maintaining rigorous quality standards.
  • Advanced analytical skills, capable of evaluating complex information and exercising sound judgment.
  • Unparalleled relationship-building prowess, particularly with clients and high-level stakeholders.
