About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs to join our team. This position is part of the Global Medical Affairs Department and will report to the Head of Medical Affairs International & Vaccines, Global Medical Affairs. As the Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs you will work very closely with the Global Director of Infectious Diseases and will be responsible for COVID-19 vaccines.
Your main responsibility is the development of scientific medical content including Medical Affairs strategies, generating insights based on external sources and planning and execution of external scientific events such as activities at global conferences. In your role you will also closely interact with the local Medical Affairs team who are responsible for executing the global medical strategy on a local level in Germany.
Your contribution:
- Develop scientific content in the field of COVID-19.
- Develop scientific material for internal training and external engagement activities with key stakeholders based on most recent data.
- Generate insights on unmet medical need based on scientific publications, conferences and new clinical development strategies in the therapeutic area.
- Provide Medical Affairs analysis for developing medical strategies for specific assets/indications in the BNT portfolio.
- Support evidence generation and global clinical/medical-driven studies in close collaboration with our partners.
- Provide medical input to cross-functional teams.
- Work closely with local Medical Affairs associates to ensure alignment of global medical strategy with local insights and requirements.
- Work closely with clinical development and regulatory affairs teams to ensure alignment of medical strategies and clinical development plans.
- Analyze and interpret clinical trial data and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide medical expertise to support product launch and post-marketing activities.

A good match:
- Advanced degree in life sciences or related field required (MD, PharmD, or PhD).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Strong knowledge in the field infectious diseases and vaccines
- Strong knowledge in the critical appraisal of scientific publications
- Excellent project management skills and proven business insight, critical thinking, ability to excel in cross functional team setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Agile and able to cope with a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and to act as an integrator and work across multiple functions is essential.
- Willingness to travel (20%).
