Associate Director, Model Advisory & Management

London (Hybrid)
12-Month Contract
£716.24 per day (via Umbrella)

HSBC are currently partnering with a leading global banking organisation to recruit an Associate Director, Model Advisory & Management within their Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) division. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced wholesale banking or credit risk professional to play a key role in the implementation, optimisation and governance of Wholesale IRB (W-IRB) models across a complex, global banking environment.

Working within the Model Advisory & Management team, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders across Business, Risk and Finance to improve commercial efficiency, strengthen risk management practices and support regulatory compliance throughout the model lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end implementation and embedding of Wholesale IRB models into business processes, including impact assessments, readiness activities and adoption support.
  • Drive model outcome optimisation by identifying opportunities to improve data inputs, systems, processes and model usage to enhance risk and capital efficiency.
  • Conduct deep-dive reviews and data analysis to identify gaps, exceptions and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver model training programmes, including user guides, FAQs, factsheets and stakeholder training sessions.
  • Review model selection and usage practices, identify control weaknesses and support remediation initiatives.
  • Assess and enhance credit risk policies and frameworks, recommending simplifications and improvements where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and GenAI tools to improve team productivity, efficiency and performance.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business, strategy and model landscape.
  • Build knowledge repositories and facilitate learning sessions covering areas such as climate risk modelling and economic capital.
  • Act as a trusted SME, providing technical and commercial guidance on W-IRB model-related matters to senior stakeholders across the organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
