About The Associate/Director Role
We are TC Group, the fastest-growing top 20 accountancy firm in the UK. We’re business advisors and accountants, with over 30 years of experience we’ve honed our skills and developed our service offering to deliver a much wider range of bespoke support and advice to ambitious business owners and their businesses.
We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Director to lead a substantial client portfolio, drive business development initiatives, and play a key role in the continued growth and success of our practice.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a significant portfolio of owner-managed businesses and corporate clients, acting as the lead relationship partner
- Delivering proactive accounting, tax and business advisory services that add tangible value to clients
- Identifying opportunities to support client growth, improve financial performance and expand service offerings
- Ensuring all client work is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest professional standards
- Developing new business opportunities through networking, referrals and existing client relationships
- Preparing proposals, fee quotations and supporting wider cross-selling initiatives across the firm
- Leading, mentoring and developing managers and senior team members to create a high-performance culture
- Supporting recruitment, retention, succession planning and employee development
- Taking responsibility for portfolio profitability, recovery, billing performance and debtor management
- Reviewing complex accounts, tax computations and advisory projects, providing technical guidance where required
- Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements
- Contributing to strategic planning, operational improvements, business growth initiatives and practice development
- Acting as an ambassador for TC Group's culture, values and reputation within the local business community

About You
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- Minimum of 10 years' experience within UK public practice
- Extensive experience managing a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, Corporation Tax, Personal Tax and business advisory services
- Proven leadership and people management experience
- Demonstrable success in business development and client relationship management
- Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using CCH, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications
