About the role:

As Associate Director of Logistics for the UK and Ireland, you will lead the end-to-end Logistics function, with overall responsibility for team leadership, P&L management, and operational performance. You will drive efficiency, service excellence, cost optimization, and strategic execution across the logistics network, ensuring the delivery of business objectives and customer expectations throughout the two countries. You will be a part of the UK&IE SMT team and be the senior logistics POC representing your markets globally, reporting directly to the European Logistics Director.

What you will be doing:

Performance Management:

  • Owning relationships with our 3PL’s at the most senior level, with a strong focus on providing best in class delivery experience to our customers.
  • Optimising our carrier mix to strike the right trade offs between cost and service.
  • Measure and drive improvements across all core logistic metrics, such as OTD, Cost per order, Labour minutes per box.
  • Drive strategic crisis management and risk mitigation projects to ensure minimal disruption to service.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and motivate a team leading by example at all times and exemplifying HelloFresh DNA.
  • Ownership and continuous improvement of our best in class engagement score, making HelloFresh and specifically the Logistics department a great place to work.
  • Relentless prioritisation and open communication to ensure everyone is working towards the same goals.
  • Work cross functionally with local teams such as production and marketing, whilst also collaborating with global counterparts across Europe, US and Australia + New Zealand.

Budget Management

  • Full UK and Ireland Logistics P&L ownership covering all areas including 3PLs, middle & final mile transport, overheads.
  • Contract management, reducing delivery costs through supplier negotiations and other creative initiatives.
  • Working alongside our finance team to hit & exceed budget expectations.

Innovation

  • Create long term solutions to reduce delivery errors in conjunction with our key suppliers and internal teams, with a strong focus on using data to measure the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Evaluate new partner opportunities with full responsibility over the selection and onboarding of new carriers based on performance, service capabilities, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate customer NPS and Trustpilot feedback to identify key opportunity areas and setting mid / long term initiatives to improve customer sentiment.
  • Partner with global tech and data teams to ensure the local teams have the right tools for the job with a high focus on AI and removing manual tasks.
  • Drive and own the logistics strategy, curating yearly OKRs in collaboration with the business yearly plan, remaining laser focused on execution.

Who you are:

  • At least 5+ years of demonstrable experience working with or for national B2C carriers.
  • Contract management experience negotiating terms and conditions with third parties.
  • P&L ownership with demonstrable experience of cost savings in challenging environments.
  • You will be an expert in UK final mile delivery networks.
  • A clear demonstrable track record of improving courier final mile performance using data to challenge and measure. Attention to detail and a results-driven mindset is a must.
  • Excellent leadership and people management experience with strong evidence of building engaged teams.
  • Proven track record of curating strategic initiatives both short and long term.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving challenges.
  • Understanding of Logistics tech systems to be able to engage with technical stakeholders e.g. TMS.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating our egoless DNA value daily.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Google suite, SQL, Power BI, AI).

Desirable

  • Experience working with perishable products and the differences in final mile process required.
  • Industry relationships within UK final mile carriers and tech providers.
  • Travel will be required - minimum 3 days pw between sites (London, Derby, HFDN sites). Monthly/BiMonthly to Ireland (Dublin) and opportunity for travel in Europe.
