Associate Director, Operations – Clinical Assessment Technologies (CAT) Partner company-based role, based in the United Kingdom
This is a senior operational leadership role at the intersection of clinical trial execution, strategic oversight, and cross-functional coordination within a global clinical research environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of clinical assessment technology (CAT) operations across multiple studies, from study start-up through close-out. The role combines hands-on operational leadership with strategic input into process improvement, resource planning, and vendor coordination.
You will act as a key subject matter expert (SME), supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards. Operating in a fast-paced, international setting, you will help optimize study performance, strengthen operational excellence, and contribute to business growth initiatives. This position is ideal for an experienced clinical operations leader who thrives in complex, high-impact environments.
About the Role
A strategic and action-oriented leadership opportunity for a clinical operations professional with broad oversight responsibility over multiple studies. Key responsibilities include quality assurance, resource management, vendor collaboration, and process innovation within a dynamic global clinical research organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end operational oversight of Clinical Assessment Technologies (CAT) activities across study launch to close-out, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for CAT operations, advising internal teams on technical and operational best practices.
- Lead resource planning and allocation for CAT study projects, balancing global teams for optimal productivity.
- Identify operational risks, performance gaps, and needs, implementing mitigation strategies and improvements.
- Drive process improvement initiatives, including the development and refinement of Operational and Quality Management Documents (QMDs).
- Collaborate closely with Project Management, Contracts, and Vendor Management on budget oversight, scope changes, and vendor performance.
- Oversee study-level financial tracking, including budget utilization and revenue recognition, in partnership with senior leaders.
- Support business development initiatives, including:
- Proposal writing
- Bid defense preparation
- Strategic client engagement
- Ensure full compliance with global regulatory standards, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH Guidelines, and relevant clinical trial regulations.
- Represent the organization in stakeholder meetings, advisory roles, and cross-functional discussions.

Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree, MBA, or PMP/fee certification (highly preferred).
Experience
- 7+ years of clinical trial experience (minimum), with 4+ years in a global clinical trial setting.
- 5+ years of clinical operations leadership, with experience managing cross-functional or cross-continental teams.
- Proven expertise in clinical trial processes, rater reliability assessments, and operational best practices.
- Strong understanding of the clinical development lifecycle, regulatory frameworks (CFR, GCP, ICH standards), and industry compliance requirements.
- Experience in vendor management, budget tracking, and cross-functional project delivery in a clinical research environment.
