Associate Director, Policy and Access

Senior Associate Director – Policy & Access (Healthcare Policy & Market Access)

Role Overview

Are you passionate about healthcare policy, market access, and systems evolution? Join Syneos Health, a leading international consultancy, to help shape the future of healthcare access for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead and expand our growing Policy & Access practice within PR & External Affairs. This Europe-based role offers the opportunity to: -Champion strategic policy and access solutions. -Work collaboratively with global teams across pharmaceutical, biotech, public affairs, and market access. -Drive business and practice growth while mentoring emerging talent. -Shape thought leadership and operational excellence in an evolving healthcare landscape.

Ideal candidates bring clinical or market access expertise, consultancy prowess, and a growth-focused, relationship-driven approach.


Candidate Profile

We’re looking for a strategic leader with:

🔹 Significant experience in:

  • Health policy, market access, healthcare systems, reimbursement (HTA), or related fields.
  • Leading client programs and advising pharma, biotech, or healthcare organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and organic growth.

🔹 Proven skills in:

  • Navigating uncertainty and aligning clients with complex public policy, access, and healthcare ecosystem challenges.
  • Building trusted partnerships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Leading and mentoring high-performing teams.

  • Expertise in Europe, LATAM, or APAC policy/access environments.
  • Proven track record in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) or evidence generation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Client Success

  • Lead high-impact policy and access programs for pharma and biotech clients.
  • Provide strategic advice on global healthcare policy, market access, and system navigation.
  • Drive new business development and organic growth initiatives.

Team & Practice Development

  • Collaborate with teams in PR, External Affairs, Medical Communications, and others to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Support team growth through mentorship, coaching, and career development.

Innovation & Thought Leadership

  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in healthcare policy, access, and technology.
  • Contribute thought leadership and explore new capabilities for the practice.
